Oxford’s most beautiful restaurant
Housed in a Victorian conservatory in North Oxford, Gees Restaurant & Bar bursts with the warmth of the Mediterranean. Serving dishes that take their cue from the seas and soils of Italy and Spain alongside cocktails of character, it offers a rustic yet chic dining and drinks experience.
We don’t have private parking at Gees. However, there is free two-hour parking on nearby Canterbury Road and maximum stay two hours Pay & Display parking on Norham Road. The restaurant is also easily accessible by public transit via Oxford’s Park & Ride services. Buses run regularly from early morning until late in the evening, taking you directly to the city from any of the five Park & Ride sites around the ring road.
Yes, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the restaurant.
Gees is fully dog friendly, inside and outside. Please feel free to bring your furry companions.
Yes, our entire venue is licensed for wedding ceremonies, accommodating wedding parties for up to 30 and receptions for 50 in Gees Gallery.
We don’t allow smoking or vaping on the premises. However, we do have a small smoking area beside the entrance to the restaurant.

6 months agoWe had a wonderful Valentines dinner at Gees. The food was wonderful and atmosphere perfect for a date. The specials of the evening were really great as well! If we're ever in Oxford again we will dine here again.

4 weeks agoBelieve it or not, I’ve had my eye on going to Gees for 6 years, since I first came to Oxford for my undergrad in 2019! Yesterday, I went for the first time to celebrate my birthday. The ambience has always looked lovely, and that lived up to expectations. The staff were also very kind, professional, and attentive. Unfortunately, and I actually feel a bit for saying this, but the food was just really bad… Two on my table ordered the gnocchi, which was genuinely awful: it was in every respect just like eating mashed potatoes, without flavour or texture. Two of us had different spaghetti dishes, which were fine, but nothing different to what you could make at home in 20 minutes. A couple of us, myself included, are actually ill today with a bad stomach. The common trait is that we all had the crab for starter and are unwell today, but that could just be a coincidence. The steaks were very average, at best. Overall, after a long time wanting to go, I left feeling pretty disappointed, and that’s a shame. Again, I’d like to reiterate that the staff were great, and the cocktails were also really nice. It’s just the food! Maybe I came on a bad day, who knows.

6 months agoThis restaurant was overpriced as the food in terms of taste and presentation are not up to the standard of theat price paid. The Today’s fish £28.50, Pork Belly £25.35, burger £20.50. Atmosphere is too dark and too small for the two person round table. The issue matters us is the service is disappointing where we were stopped by a waitress when we were walking out of the restaurant, as she forgot to charge us an extra bottle of water in our bill we had paid at £121 and asked us to top up extra £5 ish with another bill printed out separately (we didn’t order any extra bottle of water at all).
