The Valley Retreat is a unique non-residential meditation centre in Truro, Cornwall. It is a space dedicated to you. It is an opportunity for you to find freedom.
The Valley Retreat is set in over 3 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside within 5 minutes drive of Truro city centre. Teachings are offered from the meditation cabin surrounded by an abundance of trees and a wide variety of wildlife. It is an ideal setting to retreat and begin or develop a lasting transformative mindfulness and meditation practice.
People are drawn to mindfulness and meditation for a wide variety of reasons and as a result no two sessions are the same. In a world of increased complexity and busyness the potential for stress and anxiety is rife. The aim of the practice is to help you to get to know yourself and understand how and why you live your life. The primary aim is to simply relax.
Mindfulness and meditation is available to everyone. You cannot be good or bad at mindfulness or meditation. One of the key pressures within modern western society is a profound fear of failure or inadequacy. The pratice is beyond the cultural conventions of success and failure. Every single person has the ability to transform their life through these ancient and profoundly simple practices. Everyone has the opportunity for contentment. Everyone has the opportunity to simply be.
We offer mindfulness and meditation teaching primarily for individuals or small groups. Online teaching is also available via skype or facebook messenger.
The first and most important step is contact us. So often we lack confidence. We want change but we feel trapped in our habits. The most simple and positive thing you can do is simply pick up the phone or send the email. There is nothing to be lost everything to be gained. Please free to contact us at anytime by phone 07966237344 or by email rob@thevalleyretreat.co.uk to discuss how we may help you or to simply discusss in more detail what we offer. We will always get back to you as soon as is possible.

a month agoI found Rob at a time when things were particularly tricky. I was navigating a lot of changes, including some important relationship shifts that were to go on to help me find space to not only be myself, but embrace who I am. His wisdom, calm and presence felt like something steady I could lean on when I needed, until I could learn how to access my own inner calm and be more present to all that exists inside me. A big thank you to you Rob. I smile sometimes when those wise words of yours pop up in my head!

2 months agoI've been seeing Rob for over 5 years now. The retreat offers a peaceful, grounding environment that makes it easy to unwind and reconnect with yourself. The atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed for meditation and reflection. Rob, the host, is warm, attentive, and deeply supportive without ever being overbearing. His gentle presence sets the tone for the whole space, and it’s clear he cares about creating a meaningful experience. Whether you’re new to meditation or have been practicing for years, Rob’s guidance and the environment he’s created make you feel right at home. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, breathe, and reset, The Valley Retreat is a beautiful and nurturing setting. I always leave feeling lighter, clearer, and grateful — and I’m always happy to return.

2 months agoI have been visiting The Valley Retreat now for 6 months after a difficult period in my life. Rob has made such a difference to the way I think about life and introduced me to methods of meditation and mindfulness. He is passionate about his teachings and offers advice for those who have an open mind. Rob has also worked with other members of my family, who, as I, deeply appreciate his support and time.

2 months agoIf you want a fresh and beautiful place to share your challenges, the The Valley Retreat is the place, and Rob is your man! Wisdom and kindness, and a brilliant mind of clarity and insight help me when i get caught up in my own stories and bullshit. I've been sitting in Rob's cabin for 7 years (he does let me go home sometimes ....!) and there isnt a day when i dont remember something helpful we've discussed. Big beard too!

a month ago“ I first met Rob back in 2021. I was curious about Buddhism and wanted to turn this curiosity into practice of some sort. Around this time I had been diagnosed as having depression and had been offered therapy and meds, but was unconvinced by this approach. I can see now I was grasping at something, and I’m very grateful that I found Rob and the teaching at this point in my life. I drove out to meet him. When I arrived at his beautiful house on the edge of Truro, I found a big hairy man, all in black, sitting on a plastic chair, hair down to the floor. We walked down the garden to his hut, and we sat, a bit lost (me), beads in hand (him), open to whatever came next. Four years later I still remember much of that opening conversation and the gentle, funny way Rob questioned, with compassion, every ridiculous belief that I had brought with me about my life, and my inability to stay in the moment. He helped me see that perfection is already within us and there is nothing we need to search for. The teachings he shared are really valuable to me. There is no judgement. No need to book in a follow up or to search for solutions. If you are open to it, there is a challenging conversation here and an opportunity to understand how to live truly in present moment, through the teaching of the Buddha. There are few places in the world I would rather spend a couple of hours “
