My journey toward becoming an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist began over two decades ago following a life-changing car accident. Facing a debilitating back injury and the prospect of surgery, I discovered the transformative power of Yoga. Through dedicated practice and expert teaching, I experienced profound healing, allowing my body to recover and thrive without surgical intervention.

Inspired by my own recovery, I quickly qualified as a Yoga teacher, eager to share these life-changing techniques with others. Over the years, I have trained with world-renowned Yoga masters, refining my skills and gaining invaluable insights. My career as long-haul cabin crew uniquely complemented this learning journey, enabling me to study Yoga across the globe and immerse myself in diverse cultural approaches to wellness.

A lifelong fascination with the body’s muscular system and its relationship to chronic pain eventually led me to the Jing Institute of Advanced Clinical Massage in Brighton, a premier training facility for therapeutic pain relief. My qualification from Jing marked a pivotal moment in my career, equipping me with advanced techniques to alleviate pain and promote lasting healing.

Today, I bring together a unique blend of skills: a profound understanding of clinical massage techniques, an intuitive ability to tailor treatments to each individual’s needs, and what my clients often describe as “magic healing Reiki hands.” Whether you’re seeking relief from chronic pain, a restorative experience, or simply relaxation, my treatments are designed to leave you feeling balanced, rejuvenated, and ready for anything.

FAQ

What is clinical massage?

The primary difference between a clinical massage and a spa massage lies in their purpose, techniques, and intended outcomes: Clinical Massage Focus: Targets specific pain conditions, injuries, or mobility issues. It is a therapeutic approach aimed at addressing the root causes of discomfort and dysfunction. Techniques Used: Includes advanced methods like myofascial release, trigger point therapy, soft tissue release, and stretching, often tailored to individual needs. Goal: To alleviate pain, restore function, improve posture, and enhance range of motion. Setting: Typically performed in a therapeutic or medical environment, such as a clinic or specialized practice. Personalization: Requires an initial consultation to assess the client’s needs and may include follow-up exercises like stretching or strengthening routines. Client Type: Ideal for individuals with chronic pain, sports injuries, or musculoskeletal issues. Spa Massage Focus: Primarily relaxation and stress relief. Spa massages are designed to provide a soothing and pampering experience. Techniques Used: Often involves Swedish massage, aromatherapy, or hot stone techniques. The focus is on relaxation rather than therapeutic intervention. Goal: To reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance overall well-being. Setting: Conducted in a spa or wellness center, often with a calming ambiance, dim lighting, and aromatherapy oils. Personalization: Less focused on medical needs; the session is typically standardized but can be adjusted for pressure preferences. Client Type: Ideal for those looking to unwind and enjoy a calming experience without addressing specific physical issues. Key Takeaway While both types of massage provide benefits, a clinical massage is more goal-oriented and addresses physical dysfunction, whereas a spa massage emphasizes relaxation and indulgence. Choosing between the two depends on whether your primary need is therapeutic care or an stress-relieving escape.

What will my first visit include?

The first session starts with a 30-minute consultation, to assess your posture and range of movement. Please bring a pair of shorts with you and ladies, wear a sports bra or crop top. I will go through a health questionnaire with you, and ask you questions about your pain. All of the information that you give me is treated with the utmost discretion. It is my legal obligation not to share your personal information.

Are you insured?

I am insured and I regularly update my knowledge through certified courses, to keep up to date. I am passionate about what I do and love to discover anything new in the world of massage.

What does a Clinical Massage feel like?

I will use various techniques throughout your treatment. To begin with I will use Amma, which is an Eastern way of assessing and treating the body. This feels like light to firm pressure, through the drapes, to find any areas of tightness and immobility. Then, I will undrape the area of your body to be treated, to apply heat via hot stones. I use myofascial techniques next, which feels like your tissues are being gently stretched. I then apply wax to my hands and forearms to warm up the muscles with long strokes working specifically on the area of your body that is the problem, finding and treating trigger points (muscles knots or sore spots). This is where you communicate to me about the pain and if it is felt anywhere else. Afterwards, Swedish massage strokes are applied, to help smooth out the tightness. Stretches are done to the muscles that I have worked on. I finish the massage with hands on energy work to rebalance your nervous system and calm the body. Once dressed, I will go through any stretches that I think you will need to practice at home. These will be emailed to you within 24 hours of your treatment.

Will I be covered during my massage?

After our initial consultation at the beginning of your treatment, I will then leave the room. You get undressed, but leave on your underwear, and get underneath the drapes on the couch. You will be draped with large covers to protect your modesty. I only uncover the area that I am working on.

Just been shown round Falmouth Court Care home by lovely Deborah - my mother is thinking of coming here while I’m away on holiday. The home is absolutely beautiful, clean and fresh and all the staff and residents we encountered were friendly and welcoming. There really are things to suit everyone from singing and crafts to film room and quiet lounges. The gardens looked lovely - though too cold to go out today! Food choices were truly individual and looked really tasty! They were also refreshingly upfront and honest re costs. Mum hasn’t quite decided re respite as yet - but certainly commented that if she needed residential help and care full time she’d be more than happy to get a room there! Thanks for the great show round and information provided.

This is a truly wonderful care home with excellent facilities and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. My mum stayed here for two weeks of respite care following surgery, and we were so impressed by how quickly and efficiently she was accommodated—within just 24 hours! The staff are highly experienced and, most importantly, genuinely caring. They treated my mum with kindness, respect, and great professionalism throughout her stay. The food was of a very high standard, with plenty of choice served in lovely dining rooms, and there was always a wide range of activities and outings available for those able to take part. I can’t recommend this care home highly enough. We are so grateful for the outstanding care and attention given to my mum—thank you for looking after her so well.

I have just stayed at Falmouth Court Care Home for three weeks following knee replacement surgery. The home has a wonderful ambience and the staff do all they can to make you comfortable; indeed in my opinion I was pampered like a pussycat. It was very reassuring to know at night time particularly when I pressed my call button assistance would be there. Very often Paul’s cheerful face would appear to help me to the bathroom as I was using crutches. In the mornings I required initially help with my personal care and this was done in a way I felt comfortable and gradually I gained my independence. The food was delicious with a good variety. Eating in small groups of four gave us the opportunity to talk. I certainly went down for every meal as this helped keep my spirits up. I was most impressed with the laundry service which was expertly managed by Clare who took care of my clothes. All my items were beautifully pressed and returned very quickly. I had a double room next to the Garden Room with a pleasant view of the garden. The room was spacious and comfortable which added to my good experience at Falmouth Court Care Home.

From the moment we first visited, we knew this was a special place. The building itself is bright, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with wide corridors, accessible communal areas, and plenty of natural light—clearly built with residents’ comfort and dignity in mind. The staff are outstanding—warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. They go out of their way to make residents feel at home, always treating everyone with respect and kindness. Communication with families is excellent, and there’s always someone available to answer questions or provide updates. My nan settled in very quickly thanks to the calm and welcoming environment. The rooms are well-appointed, spotlessly clean, and offer just the right balance of privacy and support. There’s a lovely garden space that residents enjoy, and the activities team keeps everyone engaged with a wide range of social events and meaningful programs. Knowing my Nan is in such capable and compassionate hands gives our whole family great peace of mind. We couldn’t be more grateful for this place—it truly feels like a community, not just a care facility.

I visited Barchester Care Home on a recent open day & was shown around by Catalin who couldn't have been more welcoming. It was clear to me that the staff go above & beyond to care for the residents & their individual needs - they are real assets to the home. I was especially impressed by all of the lovely facilities (there is even a salon on site!) & by all of the activities which are provided for the residents. It's wonderful that so many things are being implemented to encourage & support wellbeing. Such a warm & inclusive atmosphere! So lovely to see that the residents had smiles on their faces too!
