Hello, my name is Richard James, and I am the founder and owner of Cyrl Cymru salon in Aberystwyth, the first curly hair salon in Wales.
I have over 20 years’ experience in hairdressing and have worked in salons in Carmarthen, Swansea, and Bristol before settling in Aberystwyth.
My career highlight was to feature on S4C TV programme ‘Prynhawn da’ where I did maker over on six episodes.
Throughout my career I have attended regular training courses with the likes of Vidal Sassoon, Toni and Guy, L’Oréal, Wella, Trevor Sorbie, Mazzella and Palmer London and Gianni Scumaci.

2 years agoI had my first curly cut with Richard last week and I’m honestly amazed! My hair hasn’t felt this healthy in so long. My curls are so bouncy and hydrated and I have the volume and shape I wanted. Richard was so welcoming and helped me not just understand what he was doing during the cut but all throughout the process. So now I have the best tips and knowledge for wash day as well as day to day styling. I bought some Olew products which are so great on my hair. 10/10 would recommend! Diolch o galon!

a year agoMy first cut with Richard was an experience in itself. He educated me on which products would help to tame my curls. I have noticed such a positive difference on my curl journey after my cut. My curls are bouncier than ever.

2 years agoWow! Richard is seriously knowledgeable and talented. The condition of my hair has improved immensely in the past couple of years by following the curly girl method. You just have to follow his Instagram to see the transformations!
