The Poachers Pocket Bacton.
A prime waterside location and an enviable selection of leisure, chalets, pub, dining, and events facilities.
Poachers Pocket is much more than a guest house; it’s a one-of-a-kind destination
Have just spent 5 days at this establishment in a very comfortable chalet. Was very impressed to find items like tea bags, sugar and coffee sachets which in self catering you rarely find. Made friends with Oscar their beautiful dog. Could find no fault with the food or the prices charged. Had their fish and chips twice which i thoroughly enjoyed. Also their jacket potatoes were excellent. Could not fault the staff either very friendly and helpful. Being so close to the sea makes this a superb place to stay and we shall certainly be coming back. Thank you for everything
I stayed at Poacher’s Pocket from Sunday through to Friday morning in chalet number six, and it was everything you could want – whether you’re away as a couple or, like me, on a business trip.
The views are breathtaking, the service is impeccable, and the staff are genuinely friendly. The owner, who has run the place for 15 years, has clearly put a lot of care into maintaining and updating the site – the new cladding on the outside gives it a fresh and welcoming look.
The location is perfect: plenty of space out front to enjoy in better weather, a shop just down the road for essentials, Sainsbury’s only four miles away, and the beach right on the doorstep. Inside, having a fridge and a microwave grill made it easy to prepare simple meals when I didn’t feel like going out.
That said, I did eat in the restaurant and was really impressed. I had lamb tikka with rice – cooked beautifully and even delivered straight to my room, which is service above and beyond.
As someone who travels a lot and reviews plenty of places, I can honestly say Poacher’s Pocket stands out. For the location, the views, the comfort, and the service, I couldn’t recommend it more highly. Just book it – you won’t regret it.
We didn't stay at this pub but just popped in for lunch. Food was good, my husband had the Steak & Kidney pie and declared it delicious. I had Fish Fingers Ciabatta and it was fine but nothing special. Good portions meant no room for pud. Where this pub is a cut above the rest is its location. Wow - even on a cool, wet day it's beautiful. On a sunny day this must be a wonderful place to stop for lunch and a cold drink. The beach is perfect and dog friendly like this pub.
Not quite the homely warm pub I'm used to, but certainly an interesting place, that is clearly popular. The location is its biggest asset, and worth a visit for that alone.
Prices are surprisingly high. I ate the lamb kofta, and I wouldn't recommend it, especially at £19 - try the lasagne instead!
We had a wonderful few days again. We love the place . Lovely rooms . Spotlessly clean. Staff so friendly and helpful and to top it off you wake up listening to the sea. Bloody marvellous
