A historic riverside pub & restaurant in Oxford
We serve proper British pub food inspired by modern and traditional recipes…
…and a rotating selection of local and regional real ales, craft beers, stouts, and ciders.
Perfect for a well-earned pint or glass of wine after a walk on Port Meadow…
…always warmly welcoming to families with muddy boots, children and dogs.
While away a summer’s afternoon in our lovely sunlit garden (while the weather lasts).
A picture-perfect setting for weddings, celebrations and events.

4 months agoGorgeous vintage pub with outdoor dining patio, complete with external bar and picnic tables surrounded by willow and apple trees. Food and drink selection is excellent but Jess made the experience all the more impressive! Was sad to move inside after it started to drizzle. Absolutely dreary with a matching service attitude. The seafood dishes are delicious, perfect with roasted carrots. Coffee is good with the chocolate tart. Do ask for a table with Jess, I can assure you will enjoy the experience a whole lot more!!

5 months agoMet up with my wife's friends, that she went to university with. Off the beaten track, but great location on the river. Dog friendly, bonus. Plenty of choice on the menu and food was lovely. Plenty of seating in and outside. You can walk along the river as well.

2 months agoWe visited late on Sunday for Sunday Roast as we had a visitor and we wanted to show them the best of Oxford. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to its fame. The potatoes were hard rock and the Yorkshire puddings all three of them were undercooked. We informed the service and they offered us even more hard rock potatoes. He stated they were crunchy but actually they were perfect if you wanted to break your teeth. I ve given two stars because we have visited before and the food was better.

Donkey
a month agoDonkey enjoying his stop on the way into Oxford along the river Thames from The Trout Inn where I parked. The food looked and smelt scrummy. Maybe next time Donkey will have more than a millionaire shortbread (which was delicious). Lovely fire, great beers, happy Donkey.
